London siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis Durham are super talented songwriters/musicians. Their music background is rooted in the tradition where songs are handed down and sung at family gatherings playing any instrument they lay their hands on. Their songs are an eclectic mix up of Pop, R’n'B & Blues, Psychedelic Rock, Soul, Country, Jazz and Ska.
They have sold over a quarter of a million albums worldwide and sold out headline tours and have opened shows for major bands including Coldplay and Stereophonics. From a very young age they have been inspiring audiences, picking up an impressive fan base from Amy Winehouse and Eagles Of Death Metal to David Lynch and Dustin Hoffman.
At their packed shows, they each take turns on vocals and jump from one instrument to another.
As a singer and lead guitarist in Mercury Award-winning rock band Gomez, Ben Ottewell is well known for his unmistakable voice and talent for blistering and inspired guitar solos. Rolling Stone declared, “Gomez's not-so-secret weapon is Ben Ottewell.” And as GQ Magazine once wrote and anyone listening can attest, "his voice is not of this world.”
On his newest record, Rattlebag, Ottewell once again collaborated with childhood friend and his Shapes & Shadows writing partner Sam Genders, previously of Tunng. "Sam and I grew up together in a little village called Bonsall in Derbyshire and have been friends since childhood. I love his songwriting -- the stuff he did with his bands Tunng and The Accidental, particularly lyrically."
Coco and Holly Chant, started Xylaroo in early 2000’s, having first met each other 15 years earlier in a hospital in Hong Kong. Introduced to each other by their English/Papua New Guinean parents, they have been friends ever since.
The sisters, for that’s what they are, grew up listening to all styles of music, and, when Coco got her first guitar started making their own.
Their music comes from their experiences, growing up in Asia and Europe, their Papua New Guinean roots and the time they now spend in east London. Being heavily influenced by old American country, folk and blues they try to keep things uncomplicated. Simple, easy, and soulful – Actually that’s what Xylaroo means.
